In a move that came as no surprise, the Mets this afternoon sent down struggling rookie outfielder Nick Evans and replaced him on the roster with veteran infielder Abraham Nunez. Evans, who was hitting .174 in nine games since being brought up from Double-A, is being sent back to Binghamton.
Nunez, a former Phillie, Cardinal and Pirate now in his 12th big-league season, was signed last month and called up despite hitting just .133 at Triple-A New Orleans.
