Former Mets outfielder Angel Pagan survived a scare when a boat he was on off the coast of Puerto Rico was flipped over by a 15-foot wave.
Pagan, former Mets minor leaguer Orlando Roman and a 16-year-old minor were on board when the vessel capsized on Cibuco Beach on Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, according to reports out of Puerto Rico. They were rescued at 7:09 a.m on Tuesday.
Pagan, 37, reportedly did not receive medical care, while Roman was treated for head trauma.
Both players were taken by the Mets in the 1999 MLB draft, with Pagan being a member of the World Series-winning Giants in 2012 and 2014 as part of an 11-year major league career, while Roman bounced around the minors, reaching as high as Triple-A ball.
