FORT MYERS, Fla. — Billy Eppler is back in baseball.

The former Mets general manager and longtime Yankees executive has joined the Brewers as a special adviser, a source confirmed, and will work under general manager Matt Arnold.

SNY first reported the development.

Major League Baseball suspended Eppler all of last season for violating the league’s injured list rules, including “the deliberate fabrication of injuries,” the league said, during his time with the Mets.

Eppler had served as Mets general manager from November 2021 through the 2023 season — overseeing a strong 2022 season, the signings of Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander and the ensuing trades of the star pitchers — and was expected to remain with the organization under new president of baseball operations David Stearns before resigning on Oct. 5, 2023, while under MLB’s investigation.

Now off the league’s Ineligible List, Eppler reenters a game in which he has spent decades.

He had risen to director of pro scouting and assistant Yankees GM from 2005-15 under Brian Cashman.
