Wayne Westerfield, who ended up with Jody Gerut’s inaugural Citi Field home-run ball, told The Post yesterday that he’s all ears in terms of possibly putting the souvenir up for sale.
“I’m not going to sell it tomorrow on eBay. … But I haven’t said no to selling it yet,” Westerfield said yesterday. “I’ll listen to anything right now.”
The 33-year-old Westerfield works as a graphic artist for Channel 11’s morning news show, and he said that on today’s program, the ball will be appraised. That’ll give the Leonardo, N.J., resident and longtime Met fan a better idea of how much it’s worth.
“As of right now, it’s just sinking in,” he said of his plan. “It would be more special if it was a Met who hit it and if they would have won. I think there would be no chance of a sale if that happens.”
