ATLANTA -– Brooklyn native Nelson Figueroa has been confirmed as the Mets’ starter for Friday’s home game against the Brewers. The anticipated move was announced by Willie Randolph today before the Mets-Braves game here at Turner Field.

It could be a one-time situation for Figueroa if Mike Pelfrey pitches well and Orlando Hernandez comes off the DL as scheduled next week.

Figueroa was called up from Triple-A New Orleans on Wednesday after Pedro Martinez was sidelined 4-6 weeks with a hamstring strain.
