Five free agents to keep an eye on for the Yankees:

Andrew Miller: He will likely command a three-year deal in the $24 million range after a sensational season with the Red Sox and Orioles. They should have enough money to afford David Robertson and Miller, who is more than a lefty specialist.

Pablo Sandoval: Like a lot of teams, the Yankees don’t trust the body but love his ability to deliver in October. Chase Headley is the object of the Yankees’ third-base shopping.

Asdrubal Cabrera: He was shifted from short to second by the Nationals after being acquired from the Indians. After making $10 million this past year, he might not be the answer at short to replace Derek Jeter. That could be Stephen Drew.

James Shields: He has a great attitude and provides innings. Teams will ignore a pedestrian October with the Royals and the right-hander will get paid. But the Yankees likely prefer Brandon McCarthy.

Hanley Ramirez: The old Yankees would have thrown everything at Ramirez to play short. Today’s Yankees aren’t likely to do that. Jed Lowrie is another option with Drew.
