We are back with Five-Thought Friday:
1. I think the Yankees will make a trade before the July 31 deadline for at least a righty hitter who could help at first base, DH and off the bench. Think Tampaâs Ty Wigginton.
2. I think the Mets will make a trade before the July 31 deadline for a pitcher, probably a reliever. Think Houstonâs Chad Qualls or Kansas Cityâs Octavio Dotel.
3. The Marlins would be significant members of the playoff chase if Dontrelle Willis were having a good year.
4. Count me among those who think Mark Cubanâs energy and vision would be good for the major leagues, but not with a thriving organization such as the Cubs. It would be better served if he were to get his hands on the Pirates and revive a dormant team in what should be a great baseball town.
5. There is more buzz about Yankees farmhand Joba Chamberlain right now than any other pitching prospect in the majors.
