CLEVELAND — Former Mets catcher and coach Sandy Alomar Jr. has interviewed for the manger’s job in Toronto, a person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press.

Alomar, now a coach with the Indians, met Monday in Toronto with Blue Jays officials, according to the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the interview had not been made public by the teams.

The Blue Jays have talked to several candidates to replace Cito Gaston, who retired at the end of the season after his second stint with the Blue Jays.

Alomar is a former All-Star catcher with Cleveland and last season coached first base with Manny Acta’s Indians.
