Hideki Matsui is officially back in the AL East.

The former Yankees outfielder/DH had his contract purchased by the Rays on Tuesday. Matsui, 37, signed a minor-league deal with the Rays on April 30 and was 8-for-47 at Triple-A Durham.

Since being named World Series MVP in his final season with the Yankees in 2009, Matsui has also played for the Angels and A’s.
