He didn’t get the ball and he lost the beer.

A pop-up behind home plate at a Pirates game on Tuesday night came crashing down behind the dugout. One fan went for the ball with one hand and — embarrassingly — missed, instead letting the ball hit his beer, which then exploded.

“I should have saved the beer,” the fan told a Pirates broadcaster after the incident. “I should have two-handed it, but unfortunately the foul ball got the beer rather than my hand.”

It was a pathetic showing compared to a Padres fan who caught a foul ball in her beer two weeks ago and then chugged it.
