A few small updates for you guys:

-Julio Franco’s joined the Braves, according to his agent, Chuck Berry.

“Everything is agreed to,” Berry said.

Franco’s now going to be on the Mets’ biggest enemy. Berry said, “I think he’s sorry that it didn’t work out in New York,” adding that Franco “would have liked to have played more.”

-No rehab game today for Moises Alou. He’ll play tomorrow for the Gulf Coast Mets again. That obviously means he won’t be in LA with the Mets tomorrow night when the series opens against the Dodgers.

-Here’s a pretty interesting stat with Guillermo Mota, who’s pitched 20 games this year and been scored on in five of ’em: in those five, he’s given up 16 earned runs and 19 hits in six innings. In his other 15 games, he’s given up no earned runs on seven hits in 17.2 innings. That’s a pretty remarkable discrepancy.
