OAKLAND, Calif. — Yankees manager Aaron Boone didn’t stick around long on Thursday night.
A furious Boone was tossed by home plate umpire Todd Tichenor in the top of the second after Joey Gallo was called out on strikes to lead off the inning on a pitch that was clearly outside.
Aaron Boone was ejected Thursday night. APIt was at least the second questionable call from Tichenor against the Yankees on Thursday night, with Aaron Judge upset with a called strike that ended the top of the first.
Gallo appreciated Boone’s outburst.
“I really respect it,’’ Gallo said of the ejection. “It fires you up. You can tell he’s into the game just as much as we are.”
