(UPDATED: 6:00 P.M.) The Mets are hoping to bounce back from a two-game skid tonight when Oliver Perez takes the mound against the Diamondbacks at Citi Field.
Perez will be in search of his second win in five starts since coming back from the disabled list July 8. He has a loss and two no-decisions in his previous three starts and is coming off a typical Perez performance Monday against Colorado — four walks and five strikeouts in five innings.
Perez, who is 1-5 with a 5.01 ERA in eight career starts against Arizona, will take on Max Scherzer. The Diamondbacks’ right-hander has faced the Mets once in his brief career, pitching two scoreless innings of relief in June of last season. Here is the 49-53 Mets’ order for the 7:10 p.m. game:
Angel Pagan CF
Luis Castillo 2B
David Wright 3B
Daniel Murphy 1B
Jeff Francoeur RF
Cory Sullivan LF
Alex Cora SS
Brian Schneider C
Oliver Perez LHP (2-3, 7.42)
The 45-58 Diamondbacks will counter with:
Ryan Roberts 2B
Gerrardo Parra LF
Justin Upton RF
Mark Reynolds 3B
Chris Snyder C
Chris Young CF
Chad Tracy 1B
Augie Ojeda SS
Max Scherzer RHP (6-6, 3.61)
