Coming off Tuesday night’s 12-7 debacle, the Mets will try to salvage the final game of a homestand gone horribly wrong today when young left-hander Jonathon Niese takes on the Cardinals at Citi Field.

Niese pitched well at Houston nearly two weeks ago in his first game since being recalled from Triple-A Buffalo, but he stumbled against the Rockies in his next start by giving up four runs in 6 1/3 innings of a 4-2 loss.

Niese, who has never faced the Cardinals, will take on Kyle Lohse. The veteran righty is 4-6 with a 4.14 ERA this season and 2-2 with a 5.06 ERA in seven career starts against the Mets. Here is the 50-56 Mets’ order for the 12:10 p.m. game:
