SAN DIEGO — The Mets hope to avoid an embarrassing four-game sweep at the hands of the last-place Padres here today when ace Johan Santana takes the mound at Petco Park.
Santana, who has won three of his past four decisions, will be in search of his 13th win of the season. The Mets, meanwhile, will be trying to win in San Diego for the first time since 2007, having lost eight in a row in the meantime.
Carrying a 1-2 record and 2.81 ERA in four career starts against the Padres, Santana will take on Tim Stauffer. The San Diego right-hander is 1-3 with a 3.12 ERA. Here is the 51-59 Mets’ order for the 4:05 p.m. game:

Luis Castillo 2B
David Wright 3B
Daniel Murphy 1B
Jeff Francoeur RF
