Game 12: Brewers at Mets
It will be a day of firsts this afternoon at Citi Field as Nelson Figueroa gets his first start in place of Mike Pelfrey and Fernando Tatis (pictured) gets his first start at second base when the Mets take on the Brewers in the finale of a three-game set. Figueroa was called up Saturday because the Mets want Pelfrey to sit out at least one start to rest the tendinitis in his right forearm. Tatis, meanwhile, is being brought out of a deep freeze to give him some at-bats (finally) and give Luis Castillo a rest.
Jerry Manuel also is giving Gary Sheffield another start in the outfield, this time in right in place of Ryan Church.
Here is the 6-5 Mets’ order for the 1:10 p.m. game:
Jose Reyes SS
Daniel Murphy LF
David Wright 3B
Carlos Delgado 1B
Carlos Beltran CF
Gary Sheffield RF
Fernando Tatis 2B
Omir Santos C
Nelson Figueroa RHP (debut)
The 3-8 Brewers will counter with:

Corey Hart RF
Ryan Braun LF
Prince Fielder 1B
J.J. Hardy SS
Mike Cameron CF
Bill Hall 3B
Jason Kendall C
Jeff Suppan RHP (0-2, 12.91)
