Game 122: Phillies at Mets
Thanks to their season-long rash of injuries, the Mets will have to settle for the role of spoiler during their four-game series with the first-place Phillies that starts tonight at Citi Field.
Mike Pelfrey is getting the start for the Mets as the big right-hander tries to pick up where he left off in his previous outing. After a span of four losses in five decisions, Pelfrey allowed just two runs in 7 1/3 innings last weekend against the Giants.
Pelfrey, who is 3-2 overall against Philadelphia and 2-0 this season, will take on World Series MVP Cole Hamels. The left-hander has had a rough year and brings a 7-7 record and 4.69 ERA into tonight’s game. Here is the 56-65 Mets’ order for the 7:10 p.m. game:
Angel Pagan CF
Luis Castillo 2B
Gary Sheffield LF
Jeff Francoeur RF
Fernando Tatis 3B
Daniel Murphy 1B
Omir Santos C
Anderson Hernandez SS
Mike Pelfrey RHP (8-8, 4.75)
