Game 125: Phillies at Mets
Still reeling from Sunday’s game-ending, unassisted triple play, the Mets now face the daunting task of taking on the practically unhittable Cliff Lee today in the series finale with the Phillies at Citi Field.
Lee has been nothing short of an NL Cy Young contender since coming to Philadelphia from the Indians last month, jumping out to a 4-0 start with an 0.82 ERA. The veteran left-hander has never faced the Mets after spending his entire career in the AL before the trade.
Rookie Bobby Parnell, making just his fourth major-league start, gets the unenviable assignment of facing Lee. Parnell is 0-2 with a 3.38 ERA in six career appearances against the Phillies, all in relief and all of them this season. Here is the 57-67 Mets’ order for the 1:10 p.m. game:
Angel Pagan CF
Luis Castillo 2B
Gary Sheffield LF
Fernando Tatis 3B
Daniel Murphy 1B
Omir Santos C
Cory Sullivan RF
Anderson Hernandez SS
Bobby Parnell RHP (3-5, 4.74)

The Mets have sent right fielder Jeff Francoeur to have an MRI exam today on a swollen thumb. Also, reliever Ken Takahashi has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo, while fellow reliever Pat Misch was sent back down to make room on the roster.
