Game 134: Mets at Phillies
PHILADELPHIA — The Mets try to bounce back from Tuesdayâs disaster when Johan Santana takes on the Philliesâ Kyle Kendrick tonight in the finale of a two-game series here at Citizens Bank Park. Santana is 1-0 with a 2.74 ERA in three starts against the Phillies this season. He was especially good in his two most recent outings versus Philadelphia, allowing two runs in eight innings both times but ending up with two no-decisions thanks to a porous bullpen.
Santana is on a roll of late, winning each of his past three starts. He hasnât allowed a run since Aug. 12 in Washington and is coming off seven shutout innings against Houston at Shea Stadium last weekend.
As for the lineup, Jerry Manuel is going back to Luis Castillo at second base with the Mets facing a righty, even though Damion Easley is coming off a four-hit night Tuesday. Also, rookie Daniel Murphy also is getting the nod in left field over Nick Evans and Fernando Tatis.
