DENVER — Pat Misch will continue his search for his first major-league victory while the Mets will try to avoid a three-game sweep when they take on the Rockies here today at Coors Field.
Misch, pressed into the rotation because of Oliver Perez‘s season-ending knee surgery, is making his second start as a Met after throwing seven innings of one-run ball last Friday in Chicago against the Cubs.
Misch is 0-5 in his career as a starter, and the left-hander’s teams are 0-12 all-time with him in a starting role. In fact, Misch is the first pitcher in major-league history whose teams lost each of his first 12 starts. Misch, who is 0-1 with a 4.60 ERA in five career appearances against Colorado, will take on Jason Marquis. The Rockies’ ace is 14-9 with a 3.60 ERA this season.
Today also marks the major-league debut of catcher Josh Thole, newly promoted from the Mets’ Double-A Binghamton affiliate.
Here is the 59-74 Mets’ order for the 3:10 p.m. game:
Angel Pagan CF
Anderson Hernandez 2B
David Wright 3B
Daniel Murphy 1B
Jeff Francoeur RF
Cory Sullivan LF
Josh Thole C
Wilson Valdez SS
Pat Misch LHP (0-1, 3.41)
