Game 135: Mets at Marlins
MIAMI â- Fresh off a bounce-back win over the Phillies, the Mets will try to keep the good feelings going here tonight when Oliver Perez (pictured) takes on Marlins right-hander Chris Volstad at Dolphin Stadium. Perez is coming off two consecutive no-decisions, although neither was considered a poor start. He allowed four runs in 6 1/3 innings Sunday against Houston in his most recent outing.
Perez is 6-3 with a 4.23 ERA in 14 career starts against the Marlins, including seven shutout innings in a 3-0 win at Shea Stadium on Aug. 8. Better yet, he is 3-0 with a 2.16 ERA versus the Fish this season. Conversely, Volstad is making his first career appearance against the Mets.
As for the lineup, Luis Castillo is getting the start again at second base, and Jerry Manuel is going with rookie Daniel Murphy in left field with the Mets facing a righty. Murphy also is coming off his key, eighth-inning RBI double against the Philliesâ Brad Lidge on Wednesday.
