Game 137: Mets at Marlins
MIAMI — The Mets are going for the series win here today when Pedro Martinez (pictured) takes on the Marlinsâ Scott Olsen in an afternoon start at Dolphin Stadium. The Mets hope Martinez can help them bounce back from Saturday nightâs 4-3 walk-off loss that featured the depleted bullpenâs 23rd blown save of the season. Jerry Manuel said he is unsure of his closer today with Aaron Heilman over-used (and ineffective) and Luis Ayala nursing a groin strain.
Martinez has struggled in his past two starts, giving up a combined nine earned runs in 12 innings. He has absorbed no-decisions in five of his past seven outings. This will be Pedroâs first start here since April 1, when he injured his left hamstring and spent the next two months on the DL.
Conversely, the Mets have fared well against Olsen this season. The left-hander is 0-2 with a 6.32 ERA in three starts against the Amazinâs in 2008.
As for the order, Manuel is going with rookie Nick Evans in left, Fernando Tatis in right and Damion Easley at second base because the Mets are facing a lefty. Manuel also wanted to get slumping right fielder Ryan Church as break.
Here is the overall lineup for the 75-61 Mets:
Jose Reyes SS
Nick Evans LF
David Wright 3B
Carlos Beltran CF
Carlos Delgado 1B
Fernando Tatis RF
Damion Easley 2B
Robinson Cancel C

Dan Uggla 2B
Jeremy Hermida RF
