All-Star center fielder Carlos Beltran‘s anticipated return to the Mets highlights tonight’s opener of a three-game series with the Marlins at Citi Field.
Beltran, who has been on the disabled list since late June with a bone bruise in his right knee, will return in support of Tim Redding. The veteran right-hander is in search of his fourth consecutive strong start after giving up just five earned runs combined in his past three outings (18 1/3 innings).
Redding, who is 5-5 with a 5.54 ERA in 13 career starters against Florida, will take on Rick VandenHurk. The righty is 2-2 with a 4.91 ERA this season.
