PHILADELPHIA — John Maine will cap his unexpected late-season comeback from shoulder problems today when he takes on the Phillies in the opener of a day-night doubleheader at Citizens Bank Park.

Maine has not pitched since early June and had been expected to shut it down due to the recurring woes in his pitching shoulder, but a recent program of rest ordered by Dr. James Andrews speeded Maine’s recovery.

Maine, who is 5-0 with a 2.54 ERA in nine career starts against Philadelphia, will face Kyle Kendrick. The Phillies righty is 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA this season.
