Game 146: Braves at Mets
After a rainout Friday night, the Mets will take on the Braves in a day-night doubleheader at Shea Stadium that has Johan Santana taking on ex-Met Mike Hampton in the opener this afternoon. Santana is 6-0 with a 2.31 ERA in his past 12 starts dating to July 9 and has allowed two runs or fewer in nine of those 12 starts. On the down side, the ace lefty is 0-3 with a 2.81 ERA in his career against the Braves, including two losses in Atlanta this year.
Hampton, meanwhile, has been limited to just nine starts this season due to injury. The veteran lefty is 4-9 with a 4.56 ERA in 18 career appearances at Shea as the visiting pitcher and is 10-10 with a 3.20 ERA lifetime against his former team.
As for the lineup, Jerry Manuel is sticking with the righty heavy lineup he had penciled in for Friday night with the Mets taking on yet another lefty. The exception is catcher Brian Schneider, who is back after being scratched Friday with knee bursitis.
