Game 146: Mets at Braves
ATLANTA — This could be struggling right-hander Bobby Parnell‘s final turn in the rotation here tonight when he takes on the Braves in the second game of a three-game set at Turner Field.
Jerry Manuel has said Parnell is on the hot seat after compiling a 2-5 record and 7.91 ERA in seven starts since his tryout as a starter began in early August.
Of course, the Mets are in a tailspin of their own, having dropped two in a row — both by shutout — and seven of their past eight to fall a season-high 19 games under .500.
Parnell, who is 0-1 with a 10.57 ERA in eight career appearances (one start) against Atlanta, will face Derek Lowe. The veteran righty is 14-9 with a 4.47 ERA this season.
Here is the 63-82 Mets’ order for the 7:10 p.m. game:
Luis Castillo 2B
Josh Thole C
David Wright 3B
Carlos Beltran CF
Daniel Murphy 1B
Jeff Francoeur RF
Jeremy Reed LF
Wilson Valdez SS
Bobby Parnell RHP (3-8, 5.49)
