MIAMI — The Mets hope to play spoiler against their nemesis Florida here tonight when Tim Redding faces the Marlins in the opener of a three-game series at Land Shark Stadium.

Eliminated by the Marlins on the final day of the season each of the past two years, the Mets can turn the tables with a sweep this weekend and help from the Rockies. Florida is four games back of Colorado in the NL wild-card race with nine games left.

Redding, who is 5-6 with a 5.65 ERA in 14 career starts against the Marlins, will take on Ricky Nolasco. The Florida right-hander is 12-9 with a 5.34 ERA this season.
