MIAMI — The Mets hope to keep doing their part to eliminate the rival Marlins here tonight when John Maine takes the mound at Land Shark Stadium.

The Mets damaged Florida’s wild-card chances Friday night with a come-from-behind, 6-5 win thanks to Cory Sullivan‘s two-run pinch hit single in the ninth inning. The Marlins begin play tonight five games out in the wild card.

Maine, who has allowed just one earned run over eight innings in two starts since coming back this month from shoulder problems, is 5-1 with a 2.21 ERA in nine career starts against Florida. He will square off against left-hander Sean West, who is 7-9 with a 4.85 ERA this season.
