WASHINGTON — The Mets embark on their final road series of the year here tonight when Nelson Figueroa takes the mound against the last-place Nationals at Nationals Park.
The Mets are coming off just their second series victory since late July over the weekend in Florida, where they helped put the Marlins on the brink of playoff elimination with a pair of wins.
Figueroa, who is 1-2 with a 3.29 ERA in seven career games (six starts) against the Nationals, will take on hard-luck Ross Detweiler. The Washington left-hander is 0-6 with a 5.71 ERA this season.
