WASHINGTON — The Mets hope to avoid the low point of a sweep at the hands of the Nationals here this afternoon when Tim Redding takes the hill in the final road game of the season.
The Mets have been an error-filled mess in the first two games of this series, prompting Jerry Manuel to label their play “embarrassing” after Tuesday’s 4-3 loss.
Redding, who is 3-0 with a 2.08 ERA in five career games against his former team, will face Long Island native John Lannan. The Nationals left-hander is 9-13 with a 3.93 ERA this season.
Here is the 67-91 Mets’ order for the 4:35 p.m game:
Angel Pagan LF
Anderson Hernandez 2B
David Wright 3B
Carlos Beltran CF
Jeff Francoeur RF
Fernando Tatis 1B
Omir Santos C
Wilson Valdez SS
Tim Redding RHP (3-6, 5.29)
