The streaking Mets, now tied with Florida for first in the NL East, are in search of their seventh win in a row and third consecutive series sweep today when Livan Hernandez takes on the Pirates at Citi Field. Hernandez is coming off his best start as a Met last Tuesday in Atlanta, throwing 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball in an eventual 4-3 win over the Braves.

Hernandez is 3-4 with a 5.32 ERA in 12 career starts against Pittsburgh and hasn’t beaten them since June 20, 2005, as a member of the Nationals.

Hernandez will square off against Pirates right-hander Ian Snell, who is 0-1 with a 6.55 in five career appearances (four starts) against the Mets.
