Game 35: Mets at Giants
SAN FRANCISCO — The first-place Mets look to make it two in a row and 10 out of 12 here tonight when Livan Hernandez squares off against Giants ace Tim Lincecum at AT&T Park in the second game of this series. Hernandez has come on strong for the Mets, allowing just six earned runs in his past three starts covering 17 2/3 innings. A member of the Giants from 2000-2002, Hernandez is 27-23 all time at AT&T Park and 4-5 with a 3.40 ERA in 15 career games against his old team.
Hernandez faces a tall order in Lincecum, the lanky All-Star right hander and reigning NL Cy Young winner who was one of the biggest stories in baseball last year. Lincecum has picked up where he left off in 2008 but is 0-1 with a 4.85 ERA in two career starts against the Mets.
As for the lineup, Jose Reyes is missing his second consecutive game due to a calf injury and Jerry Manuel is going with backup outfielder Jeremy Reed at first base in place of the injured Carlos Delgado.
