Game 46: Nationals at Mets
(UPDATE) The patchwork Mets will be counting on Johan Santana to provide his usual magic tonight at Citi Field as they try to complete a three-game sweep of the hapless Nationals. Santana, who is tied for the NL lead in wins (six) and leads the league in ERA (1.50), has been nothing short of sensational again this season. He has allowed a total of six earned runs in four starts this month while going 3-1 in that span.
Santana also has a history of domination against the Nationals, posting a career 5-1 record and 2.36 ERA against them. That includes a win at Citi Field on April 24 this season and a 3-0 mark against Washington last year.
Santana will be opposed by rookie right-hander Jordan Zimmermann, who pitched 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball against the Mets in an 8-1 Washington win at Citi Field last month. That remains Zimmermann’s best outing of the year.
