Game 48: Marlins at Mets
The surging, first-place Mets, who have won six of their past seven games, will try to turn the tables on nemesis Josh Johnson this afternoon when Tim Redding takes on Johnson and the Marlins at Citi Field. Redding, a veteran right-hander and former National signed as a free agent in January, is making his third start as a Met in place of Oliver Perez after Perez was yanked from the rotation and put on the DL.
Redding is 4-4 with a 4.98 ERA in 11 career starts against the Fish, but has struggled mightily against them lately. He went 1-4 with a 7.76 ERA in six starts versus Florida last season.
Redding will face off against Johnson, the Marlins’ righty ace who has repeatedly flustered the Mets throughout his brief career. Johnson is 5-0 with a 1.97 ERA in seven career starts against the Amazin’s and out-dueled Johan Santana in Miami the first Sunday of this season.
Here is the 27-20 Mets’ order for the 1:10 p.m. game:
Angel Pagan LF
Fernando Martinez RF
Carlos Beltran CF
Fernando Tatis 3B
Daniel Murphy 1B
Ramon Martinez 2B
Brian Schneider C
Wilson Valdez SS
Tim Redding RHP (0-1, 6.75)
