Game 62: Mets at Orioles
(UPDATED) BALTIMORE — The Mets will try to put the memories of Sunday’s 15-0 shellacking in The Bronx behind them here tonight when Mike Pelfrey takes the mound against the Orioles in the team’s first visit to Camden Yards since 2001. Pelfrey started the year strong but is enduring a bit of a luckless stretch, going 0-2 with four no-decisions in his past six starts.
The big right-hander, though, bounced back nicely from the Pittsburgh debacle in his previous start, giving up just two earned runs in six innings against the Phillies at Citi Field last week.
Aside from spring training, where the Mets and Baltimore are regular opponents, Pelfrey has never faced the Orioles.
Pelfrey will be opposed by right-hander Jeremy Guthrie, who is struggling mightily after a strong start. Guthrie began the year 2-0 but has dropped six of his past eight decisions while giving up the most homers in the AL. The Orioles are 4-9 in his 13 starts.
