(UPDATED) Losers of three in a row and eight of their past 10, the reeling Mets will try to get back on track tonight when Mike Pelfrey takes on Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers in the opener of a three-game series at Citi Field. Pelfrey is coming off by far his best outing of the season, 7 2/3 scoreless innings last Wednesday in Milwaukee to key a 1-0 shutout of the Brewers that snapped the Mets’ five-game skid.
Pelfrey, who does not have a decision to go with his 2.57 ERA in one career start against the Dodgers, will take on LA lefty Clayton Kershaw. The southpaw is 10-10 in two big-league seasons and was bounced around in his only career appearance against the Mets, giving up four runs in 3 2/3 innings.
