(UPDATED) The Mets will try to keep the good feelings from Wednesday’s win going tonight when Livan Hernandez takes on the first-place Dodgers in the finale of a three-game series at Citi Field. Hernanez has his a rough patch lately and is coming off his worst outing of the year last Friday in Philadelphia, when he gave up seven runs on 10 hits and four walks in just three innings of a 7-2 loss.
The Mets also have lost each of Hernandez’s past five starts after winning seven of the journeyman right-hander’s first 11 outings. Hernandez also is a less-than-encouraging 9-13 with a 4.30 ERA in 29 career starts against the Dodgers.
Hernandez will take on Dodgers lefty Randy Wolf, who was an off-season target of the Mets in free agency before signing with LA. Wolf is 11-5 with a 3.30 ERA in 29 career starts against the Amazin’s.
