Game 87: Reds at Mets
(UPDATED: 12:30 P.M.) Coming off Saturday night’s 4-0 win, the Mets will try to go into the All-Star break on a positive note today when Mike Pelfrey takes on the Reds in the finale of a three-game series at Citi Field. Pelfrey has been shaky of late, dropping two of his past three decisions. He also is coming off his shortest outing of the year, a three-inning stint Tuesday against the Dodgers in which he allowed four runs on eight hits and three walks.
Pelfrey is 2-1 with a 4.97 ERA in five appearances (four of them starts) against Cincinnati. He will square off against Reds right-hander Aaron Harang, who lost to the Mets on Opening Day in Cincinnati this season.
Harang (5-8) is in a serious drought with four consecutive losses, and the veteran has not posted a victory since May 25 against Houston. Harang is 2-2 with a 5.04 ERA in five career starts against the Amazin’s.
