Game 97: Mets at Astros
(UPDATED: 1:55 P.M.) HOUSTON — The Mets hope to finish this 10-game trip on a good note today when Livan Hernandez faces the Astros at Minute Maid Park.
Hernandez quieted the talk about him losing his rotation spot this week when he allowed just two runs in seven innings Monday in a win in Washington over the Nationals. The veteran right-hander had been in trouble after giving up 15 earned runs in his previous seven innings over two starts.
Hernandez, who is 9-5 with a 4.25 ERA in 15 career starts against the Astros, will take on Astros righty Brian Moehler in the series finale. Moehler has won two consecutive starts and five of his past six this season but is winless in his past four decisions against the Mets. Here is the 45-51 Mets’ order for the 2:05 p.m. game:
Angel Pagan CF
Luis Castillo 2B
David Wright 3B
Daniel Murphy 1B
Jeff Francoeur RF
Cory Sullivan LF
Brian Schneider C
Alex Cora SS
Livan Hernandez RHP (6-5, 4.93)
The 50-47 Astros will counter with:
Michael Bourn CF
Kaz Matsui 2B
Miguel Tejada SS
Carlos Lee LF
Geoff Blum 3B
Hunter Pence RF
Pudge Rodriguez C
Chris Coste 1B
Brian Moehler RHP (7-5, 4.92)
