A little snow won’t stop the Mets and Twins from opening their interleague series on Friday night.

Twins spokesman Chris Iles told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that Target Field will be ready for play, despite the area seeing 4-6’ of snow on Wednesday and Thursday.

“Game on!” Iles told the paper this morning. “We are planning to play tonight. Thanks to some tremendous efforts by our grounds crew, the [heat radiated] field is currently clear of snow. The field will be ready for [batting practice] if the teams choose to take it.”

According to the report, there could be more snow during the game with temperatures to be around 35 degrees at first pitch (8 ET) and dropping throughout the evening.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if there are a few snowflakes,” National Weather Service forecaster Rick Hiltbrand said, according to The Tribune. “[The players] could make snowballs and hit them.”

The Mets will throw lefty Jon Niese against former Phillies right-hander Vance Worley.
