Get ready for Game 7
Twenty years ago, the Mets won a World Series in a Game 7 at Shea Stadium. Tonight, the stadium gets its second Game 7. The Mets got the performance of a lifetime from 25-year-old John Maine last night. Now they need another one from 25-year-old Oliver Perez.
Willie Randolph made it official after the 4-2 Game 6 victory that Perez would be his starter. The lefty can be electric or maddening. The Mets hope to see the former tonight.
Shea should be rocking again, as it was last night. When Paul Lo Duca hit that grounder in the seventh to make it 4-0, the stadium shook like it does on those special moments.
The crew is cleaing out the stands here at Shea, getting ready for tomorrow. That’s a sign that it’s time for us to go, too.
Here’s a question to ponder Mets fans: What scares you more: Oliver Perez starting or Billy Wagner closing? So Taguchi seems to have his number.
