Members of the Giants’ front office met in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon with representatives of Giancarlo Stanton, according to a report by SiriusXM’s Craig Mish.
ESPN reported the meeting was to gauge the Marlins slugger’s interest in being traded to San Francisco. The Giants reportedly have offered a package headlined by second baseman Joe Panik for Stanton, the 2017 major league home run champion.
Stanton, the 2017 home run champion, needs to waive his no-trade clause in order for a deal to go through. He wants to hear what teams have to say as he could be on the move from the cost-cutting Marlins.
The Cardinals and the Dodgers and Cardinals are two two teams who also have been linked to Stanton, according to ESPN.
The reigning NL MVP is owed $295 million over the final decade of his record $325 million, 13-year contract.
