Welcome to New York, Giancarlo Stanton.

The Yankees’ offseason splash made a jolting initial impression Thursday when he blasted a home run to right-center field in his first at-bat in the Yankees uniform. The homer scored Brett Gardner and gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead over the Blue Jays on Opening Day.

Stanton and Aaron Judge are expected to form one of the most formidable 1-2 punches in baseball this season. After Judge struck out swinging in his first at-bat, Stanton bailed him out with the debut blast.

Stanton, 28, won the NL MVP award with the Marlins last season after crushing 59 home runs and adding 132 RBIs.
