Mariano Rivera could pitch today, but Joe Girardi would prefer to give his closer another day of rest.

It’s a maybe for Rivera, but a definite no for Joba Chamberlain this afternoon against the Orioles. Chamberlain has closed out the past two games against Baltimore and will be given the day off.

If the Yankees face a save situation, Girardi said he would mix and match. Rivera has been bothered by a sore left side since Saturday, but said he felt fine after a bullpen session last night.
