According to Joe Girardi, Andy Pettitte wants to rejoin the Yankees.

“I talked to him recently and he is still excited about coming back,” Girardi said today of Pettitte, who hasn’t accepted the one-year, $10 million deal on the table from the Yankees. “They continue to talk; it takes time. He is very excited about the additions to the club and he wants to be here. I think he could help.”

Brian Cashman, who last week visited Pettitte in Houston, stressed the Yankees would like the veteran lefty to pitch in pinstripes.

“We would like to have him back and he would like to come back so it sets up for a happy ending,” Cashman said.
