CHICAGO – For his second attempt, Tom Glavine says he’s a little more relaxed.

The Met left-hander has been there, though he hasn’t yet done that, in his quest for 300. Last Tuesday in Milwaukee, he went for his 300th win for the first time and pitched six innings of one-run, two-hit ball.

But he ended up with a no-decision. Tonight at Wrigley Field, he’ll again shoot for 300 when he takes the hill against the Cubs.

“I don’t think there’s as much anxiousness as going into the Milwaukee start,” Glavine said. “This one seems to be a little more business as usual in terms of the preparation.”

The 41-year-old has gone 6-5 with a 3.43 ERA in his 15-game career at Wrigley, and he has 14 career wins versus the Cubs overall.

Glavine probably should have had his 300th win against the Brewers, but with a 2-1 edge in the eighth inning, the Mets blew the lead with five outs to go.

Glavine admits that pitching a terrific game is how he would like to reach 300. But he doesn’t really care too much about how well he fares.

“I think, like I’ve said, if you’re going to write a Hollywood script, you want to throw a complete game and have a one-hitter or a no-hitter or something spectacular,” he said. “But at the end of the day, I’ll take it any way I can get it.”

There’s a 30 percent chance of showers around gametime – and while the Mets are off tomorrow, the Cubs are scheduled to play the Astros. So if tonight’s series finale gets rained out, the Mets and Cubs couldn’t play a make-up tomorrow.

Glavine would then face – ready for this? – the Braves, his former team, Tuesday at Shea.

Said Glavine, “It would make for an interesting change of plans.”
