Gleyber Torres was pulled from Thursday’s 17-5 loss to the Orioles with tightness in his right groin.

It came on a steamy afternoon in The Bronx in which Torres homered in the bottom of the second.

Afterward, Aaron Boone didn’t sound overly worried about the injury, saying the team was being cautious in taking him out of the game.

“I don’t expect it to be anything major,’’ the manager said.

Even before his exit, Torres was having a rocky afternoon, having played some shaky defense in the top of the fifth.

First, Torres backhanded a grounder up the middle by Jordan Westburg and was unable to handle it, which resulted in an error.

On the next play, Cedric Mullins hit a grounder to Torres and nearly beat his throw to first.

The Yankees rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning, and Ben Rice went to the on-deck circle to hit for Torres, but an Alex Verdugo groundout ended the threat.

To start the sixth, the Yankees moved Oswaldo Cabrera from third to second to replace Torres in the field and shifted DJ LeMahieu from first to third, with Rice at first.

Cabrera quickly made an error at second, unable to come up with a hard grounder by Ramon Urias.

The injury to Torres is the latest setback in what’s been a mostly nightmarish season as he heads towards free agency for the first time.

He entered the game 0-for-15 in his previous five games, with a miserable .629 OPS for the season.

Just three regular second basemen have a lower OPS on the season than Torres, who last year posted an OPS of .800 in a bounce-back campaign that was his best since he was an All-Star in 2019.

He’s also had some issues in the field, with 11 errors in 76 games after making 15 in 145 games in 2023.

With LeMahieu not moving as well defensively as he did earlier in his career and Cabrera inexperienced at second, the Yankees don’t have an ideal candidate to fill in for Torres if he ends up missing time.
