TAMPA — Gleyber Torres has something Derek Jeter doesn’t, although the former Yankees’ captain has five World Series rings and a Hall of Fame career.

Torres, the Yankees’ top position player prospect, was named the winner of the James P. Dawson Award on Monday. The award goes to the top rookie in Yankees camp.

Torres, 20, hit .448 (13-for-29) with two homers and nine RBIs in 19 games. That followed the shortstop being named the Arizona Fall League MVP. He was the youngest MVP in that league’s history.

Tony Kubek (1957) and Tom Tresh (1962) won the Dawson award and were later named AL Rookie of the Year.

In 1996, Jeter’s rookie year, pitcher Mark Hutton won the award, named for former sportswriter James P. Dawson who died during spring training in 1953. Norm Siebern was the first winner in 1956.
