BALTIMORE — Gleyber Torres had never lost a shoe running the bases until Friday night, when his left one got loose from his foot halfway between second and third base at Camden Yards.

“First time,’’ said Torres, who was thrown out attempting to stretch a fifth-inning double into a triple, but was handicapped by the shoeless left foot. “When I lost the shoe it was a couple of seconds and I was out.’’

Since the Yankees beat the awful Orioles, 4-1, they could laugh about Torres losing a shoe. However, only when Torres saw the ball rolling along the left-field wall did he accelerate around second.

When the head-first slide into third resulted in Torres being called out, the Yankees checked with replay guru Brett Weber and opted not to challenge.

“I don’t know, 50-50,’’ Torres said when asked if he was safe.

Torres drove in the Yankees’ first run with a third-inning single that scored Neil Walker from second.

“Every day he gets two knocks,’’ Aaron Judge said of the 21-year-old Torres.
