Over his torrid past 10 games, Andrew McCutchen has bumped his average by .49 points and added three home runs — along with two fans for life.

The star outfielder, upon the Pirates recording their eighth win in nine games on Saturday, jogged to the outfield wall where a couple of young fans were unveiling their Pirates flag. As they waved it, McCutchen greeted them by handing over his batting gloves and giving each a quick handshake.

The innocent, absolute joy on their faces, emphasized with an, “I love you!” shout from one of the kids as McCutchen raced back to his teammates, is about as heartwarming a moment as you’ll see on a baseball field.
